Gastric Dilatation Volvulus: What's New?

This practical, case-based lecture will discuss new findings in the management and care of animals presenting with GDV. The pros and cons of various management techniques (e.g., does delaying surgery impact survival?) and a detailed description of the surgical techniques available and their pros and cons will be discussed.

Theresa Fossum DVM, MS, PhD, DACVS

Theresa (Terry) W. Fossum is VPR and a Professor - Surgery at Midwestern University. She graduated from WSU CVM in 1982. After completing an internship at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital, she went on to do a surgery residency (ACVS; 1987) and MS at the Ohio State University. She joined the faculty at Texas A&M later that year. In 1992, she completed a PhD in Veterinary Microbiology. Dr. Fossum is the author of Small Animal Surgery.
