Basic Introduction to Fracture Repair in the Dog

In this lab we will be covering the following using plastic bone models: - Distal radius/ulna fracture repair using plate/screws - Long oblique fractures of tibia/fibula- repaired with IM pin and cerclage - Tibial tuberosity fracture - pin and tension band (if time allows) - Femur diaphyseal fracture - repaired with plate and screws

Stephen Jones MVB, MS, Dipl. ACVS-SA

Stephen Jones is a small animal surgeon who graduated from the University College Dublin veterinary school in 2009. Stephen completed rotating and specialty-surgery internships at Hollywood Animal Hospital before starting a residency in small animal surgery, at the University of Florida, in 2011. During his residency Stephen also completed a Masters where he studied stifle kinematics in the dog. Following his residency, Stephen became a small animal surgery faculty member at The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.
