Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease: What's New?

Degenerative valvular disease is the most common type of heart disease in dogs. New diagnostic tools and therapeutic protocols will be discussed, with the goal of improving early detection and management of this disease. The objectives of this session are tio learn new diagnostic tests, identify the disease process and apply new treatment protocols.

Joao Orvalho DVM, Dipl. ACVIM (Cardiology)

A Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology), Dr. Orvalho is a graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lisbon, Portugal. He completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at The Ohio State University, and a residency in veterinary cardiology at the University of California, Davis. After completing his residency, Dr. Orvalho joined the faculty of the UC Veterinary Medical Center – San Diego.
